Emma Hoiby, BA

BA Psychology
2nd Year MSW Intern
Mental Health Provider
UW Social Work MSW (Candidate, May 2024)

I’m a social work intern at Elite for the 2023-2024 school year. I am currently in my second year in the Master of Social Work program at UW Madison. I am excited to work with a variety of clinicians and clients this year. After graduation, I plan to continue training and obtain my LCSW.

My previous experiences in the mental health field are varied. I have worked as a behavior technician working directly with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). My previous internship was at New Bridge, where I conducted assessments and provided case management for older adults. While I particularly enjoy and am interested in working with older adults, I am open to working with clients of any age.

My areas of interest include LGBTQ+ issues, ASD, ADHD, and other forms of neurodivergence, as well as anxiety and depression management. Coming from a social work background, I focus on understanding the totality of a person’s experience. This includes a person’s different identities, how they interact with social systems, and how their physical, mental, and social health all play into each other.

As a provider I will meet you where you are and treat you as the expert of your own experience. My hope is that together we can produce strategies and resources that will aid you in meeting your goals. I will support you in learning to understand and cope with your mental health symptoms and behaviors through skills development and psychoeducation.
